ASTRID Y GASTON
Astrid and Gaston are a married couple but also cooking partners with a shared story. he gave up law school and she left medical school. Fate brought them prevailed and persuades the German blonde to follow him to Peru to open a restaurant, and start a family, a life, a love story. Astrid & Gastón opened in 1995 as a clearly French style restaurant distilled from the owners´ academic training. Fortunately with time, Astrid and Gaston discovered in themselves a mission to experiment with Peruvian ingredients, draw their inspiration from local traditions, and claim and value a style of gastronomy that every day unveiled itself before their amazed eyes. Today, Astrid and Gaston Acurio carry that same banner not just at Astrid & Gaston, but also in other Peruvian concept restaurants like La Mar "cebiche" fish restaurant, Tanta Peruvian bistro, Pasquale Brothers, Peruvian-style sandwich bar, Panchita Peruvian steak grill, and other projects and brands under way. Together they have published profusely on cooking and presented several TV shows. Gaston now conducts Culinary Adventure on Peruvian television and is working on a project to rediscover street-side cooking for low-income consumers, and to build Peru's first public cooking school for disadvantaged Peruvian young people. Today is Astrid y Gaston is having huge success in Bogotá, Ecuador, Santiago and of course Lima.
